The meeting of tropical water and the influence of the Humboldt Current supports a great diversity of life. Visibility and sea conditions vary, so every trip is planned around the state of the ocean and the divers' experience.

Every ORKA trip is also a research platform: our guides log sightings, photograph individuals, and feed a scientific database on the Mar Tropical de Grau — the national reserve created in 2024 to protect these waters.
We dive by the reserve's rules and wildlife-approach distances, work with El Ñuro's fishing community, and you can now contribute your own photos and sightings as a citizen-scientist diver in our logbook.
citizen science
In English or Spanish. An ORKA curator checks every record before it is published. Verified data is shared in the Darwin Core standard with science and with the monitoring of the Mar Tropical de Grau National Reserve; in that data, threatened species carry no exact spot.
living record
Every surveyed dive leaves a record of which species turned up. This isn't a gallery — it's the data as it was written down underwater.
